บทคัดย่อ/Abstract | This research was aimed at studying: 1) a consuming behavior pattern toward used clothes of young Muslim pupils in Saiburi Islam Wittaya School,Amphoe Saiburi, Changwat Pattani and 2) a social mechanism or process that encouraged such consuming behavior of the Muslim youths through survey and in-depth interview with sample subjects of school boys attending the Upper Secondary at Saiburi Islam Wittaya School. The collected data was analyzed in favour of a descriptive study as well as a case study . The findings were as follows. The Muslim youth sought acceptance from their peer groups and neighbouring persons through wearing the used clothes with famous brands. Factors influencing the decision-makings by the sample groups in choosing different kinds of used clothes were : taste of clothes with brand names, styles,prices, places of residence and interaction with those who went in for the well ? known used clothes. The sample groups learnt the sources of used clothes from their friends, direct experience and other sources. They were divided into 2 categories: the imitative and the innovative .The former was more effectively adjusted to modernity than the latter. The steps of purchasing the used clothes began with quality - checking, carefully examining their designs, colors, defects and brand names, followed by price bargaining. The used clothes were by and large the goods imported from Malaysia. Prior to selling, the traders sorted out quality and brand names of the used clothes. The quality of used clothes would be determined by their placing sites i.e. those of the best quality which would be found hanging under umbrella clotheslines, the medium ones on ironed clotheslines and the lower ones were placed on the grounds. Evaluation of the used clothes was made by carefully scrutinizing at their styles, brand names, prices ,suggestions by their peers and family members. The peer groups were by and large the momentous social mechanism by means of which the consuming behavior pattern of the Saiburi Islam Wittaya School pupils was favorably encouraged, formed and fostered after carefully perusing the used clothes with their brand names , price, identity and modernity. |
