The objectives of this research 1) to study the participation of the rural people in the southern border provinces of Thailand in self-sufficient economy development 2) to compare the participation of the rural people in the southern border provinces of Thailand in self-sufficient economy development.
In this research,the researchers have selected samples of the targeted population in the five southern border provinces,namely Songklhla,Satun,Pattani,Yala and Narathiwat,collecting data by the survey method and using the multi-stage sampling.
In this research, the researchers have collected quantitavc datd by individual interview 1,974 persons and have collectcd qualitalive data by focus group interview 40 groups. Data were analyzed by SPSS/PC+ computer program. The researchers have presented the result in the form of diagram by showing the frequency,percentage,t-test and test a pair difference by scheffe?s method.
The results of the rescarch are as follow :-
1) Majority of the rural people in the southern bordcr provinces of Thailand according to variables of province, occupalion and income have participated in self-sufficient economy development are in the moderate level, but minority of the rural people have participated in self-sufficient economy development are in the high level.
2) The rural people in the southern border provinces of Thailand according to variables of gender,age,religion,the family status,the level of the education and social position have participated in self-sufficient economy development are in the moderate level.
3) The rural people in the southem border provinces of Thailand according to variables of province,gender,religion,the level of the education ,occupation, income and social position have participated in self-sufficient economy development were statistically significant difference at 0.001 level.
4) The rural people in the southern border provinces of Thailand according to variables of age and the marital status have participatcd in sclf-sufficicnt cconomy dcvclopmcnt wcrc statistically significant difference at 0.01 level.
5) The rural people in the southern border provinces of Thailand according to family status variables have participated in self-sufficient economy development are not different.
