The study aimed to examine information behavior and issues in information seeking and information use regarding health concerns of elders in Pattani province to maintain good health and prevent diabetes. This study was survey research. The researchers employed a purposive sampling technique and distributed questionnaires to 240 elders who were 60 years old and older in 12 districts of Pattani province. The data was collected in three months, from June to September 2021, and was analyzed statistically. It was found that (1) The information behavior of the elders in Pattani province was illustrated at a high level (x = 4.08). To clarify, the elders demonstrated the information behaviors as follows: information seeking (x = 4.11), information use (x = 4.08), and information needs (x= 4.06) respectively. Moreover, they usually visited physical information institutes, for example, libraries or community learning spaces, more than other resources. (2) The elders experienced issues regarding seeking and using health information at a high level (x = 4.00). To illustrate, they had problems with information use (x = 4.02) and information seeking (x = 3.98) respectively. This study could be utilized as a guideline to design an information system for Pattani institutes, for instance, public libraries, community learning spaces, institutions? libraries, or the social welfare development center for older persons, Department of Older Persons since the center?s responsibilities are to provide health information related to the elders? information behaviors and support the elders? issues. Therefore, it would be an effective strategy for those organizations to provide an information system for elders to access health information easily. Further, public health sectors and health-promoting hospitals could apply the findings and discussions to elders? health policy and strategic plans for seamless elderly supports.
